Lights up on the set of Tomorrow Today. Karl Junior Junior, Lisa Junior Junior, Richard Wilkins and Sally all sit on the couch (or at a desk) downstage left, beaming at the audience.
Good Morning viewers, I’m Lisa Junior Junior…
…and I’m Karl Junior Junior, and welcome to this very special episode of Tomorrow Today!
Hello to you, Sally Jacobs, and to you, Richard Wilkins Junior, and a huge welcome to our lovely studio audience who all got up nice and early this morning to come to this special live broadcast. How are you all?
Our hosts encourage the audience to respond.
They sound a bit tired, Lisa. (yawns) I know how they feel.
I’m sure you do, Karl. So, it’s August 30th, 2116 and on this day 100 years ago the famous “Be the Change” trials began. And today on the show we will be celebrating that infamous day in Australian history.
That’s right, Lisa. There are celebrations happening all over the nation this morning to commemorate the children’s trials of 2016 that made the world a better place. I was out celebrating last night in fact.
Yes, and it looks as though you’ve come straight from those celebrations. Feeling a bit seedy this morning are we, Karl?
Not at all, Sally! I’m feeling as good as the best, and better than the rest!
Well, you don’t smell like it.
Always good to see you, Sally.
We will also be announcing the winners of our fantastic competition, where we will send one lucky family back in time to 2016 so they can watch the famous trials as they happen!
Not only will our winning family be going back in time today, they will be travelling in style in Tomorrow Today’s state-of-the-art 2116 Gran Turismo Maserati Time Machine! Oh I’d love to get my hands on one of those, Lisa.
Who are you kidding, Karl? You could afford a fleet of those with the money you’re on.
I’ve actually got a couple at home myself. They are sensational!
Why would you need more than one, Richard?
I always forget where I park them.
And later in the show we will also be paying tribute to Tatiana Bell – the little girl with the big voice who started the movement that changed the world
But right now it’s over to you Richard, to announce the lucky winners of our fabulous competition!
Richard stands up with the microphone and walks to centre stage.
Thanks Karl, thanks Lisa, isn’t this exciting! As Karl said, our winners will be traveling all the way back to 2016 to watch the trials as they happen, travelling in our beautiful 2116 Gran Turismo Maserati Time Machine. Did I mention I have a couple at home? But I’m waffling on, so let me introduce our winners who are here with us in the studio! Please welcome Leroy, Amy, Josh and Martha! Let’s give a huge round of applause to the Jelly family!
The family walk out on stage waving at the audience.
Hey gang, congrats!
So, have you been to 2016 before?
No, never! The furtherest we’ve been is 2080, would that be right, honey?
Yeah, and that was only in our battered old Holden FJ time machine. Can’t wait to get my hands on the controls of that hot little Maserati.
How about you kids? Excited to be going all the way back to 2016 today?
Yeah, I guess.
I’d rather be going back to 2015.
That was the last time Hawthorn won a premiership.
Richard fake laughs.
Okay, well let’s get you strapped in shall we? How about we give them a big hand as they head off, hey audience?
The family wave goodbye to the audience as they head offstage. Karl and Lisa wave the family goodbye too. Karl is facing the wrong way.
She points towards the family. Karl sheepishly turns around.
While our family strap themselves in for their 100 year journey back in time, here are a few words from our sponsors.
