One of Australia’s favourite performers and writers, Fiona Harris (Skithouse, The Librarians & Comedy Inc) explores the notion of what it means to have aspirations in life and how best to go about achieving them.
Through storytelling and multimedia this award-winning performer shares her struggles as a teenager, from her disastrous attempts to fit in to ultimately finding herself. Fiona has come a long way from the nerdy kid whose best friend was a tree and who wanted to live in an Enid Blyton book. Follow your passion is a heartfelt and motivational talk, which is hugely inspiring for students of all ages.
By sharing her own awkward and embarrassing childhood and teenage stories, Fiona proves that everyone faces feelings of self-doubt and isolation. She highlights the importance of setting goals, collaborating with others, friendship and positive thinking. Fiona grew up in the Western suburb of Altona North, and knows what it’s like to come from an area where the odds are stacked against you when you want to go down a creative path. She knew from a young age that she wanted to do something creative with her life but had no one in her life to support or inform her on her quest.
Fiona is very passionate about getting the message across to kids that they have the potential to do anything that they set out to achieve, especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
Q&A session follows the talk where the students have the opportunity to share their own passions and/or ask questions.
