Let’s Go To The Movies
Kids walk on stage with torches. Lights low until inside cabin.Lights gradually come up through first part.
OW! You stood on my foot!
I can’t see anything in this forest. It’s so dark.
So, where is this place anyway?
Look, it’s right over there. The red cabin.
Are you sure this is the right place?
Yes, Mum and Dad definitely said it was the red cabin!
They enter the cabin and sit at a table, looking around nervously
Hey, where are the grown ups?
Yeah, they should be here by now.
Why don’t we just wait here until they arrive.
Man, this is totally creepy.
Don’t be such a scaredy-cat.
SFX big noise.
What was that?
Nothing. It was just the wind.
I hate creepy cabins out in the middle of forests.
Me too. It’s like the opening scene of a horror movie.
You know what scares me most in horror movies? Faces at the window.
See face at the window behind.
Oh yeah, and I hate creaking noises in haunted house movies.
Creaking noise SFX
Well, what about when the killer is behind someone in the bathroom and suddenly appears in the mirror?
I hate it when girls scream while they’re running away. I’m sorry but if something is chasing me, I’m not going to be screaming. Also, have you ever tried screaming and running?
How about when someone is being chased in a house and they run upstairs instead of out the back door. So annoying!
What about people who trip and fall for no obvious reason and can’t get back up when the villain is coming towards them.
And then if they are running and the villain is just walking, for some reason the villain can always keep up!
It annoys me when cars won’t start until the villain has smashed the car window with his axe.
Another scary noise SFX
We should split up into groups and go and investigate those noises.
No way! It never goes well for groups that split up in horror movies.
Yeah, as if they think its better to go one on one with a killer than fight as a group. Um, hello?
How about all those horror movies that are set in a cabin in the woods, miles away from civilisation, which means that no one is around to rescue them when the psycho killer turns up.
Oh that’s the worst. I hate that!
They all pause to look at each other, then huddle together. Terrified.
What about when there’s a big scary shadow of something and…
Kids turn to look at silhouette.
(Back Wall Graphic 12 – A massive silhouette)
They all scream. Door opens to reveal Isla carrying teddy bear.
Hey guys, I’ve been looking all over the forest for you. Mum and Dad and the rest of the grown ups are waiting at the blue cabin next door.
We thought you were a monster!
Don’t be silly, monsters don’t exist.
They all turn to the audience holding torches up to their faces.
Or do they…?
